Let the material talk.
“My designs emanate from my materials. I'm always looking for something newer and edgier".”
“Make something nice”.
After finishing the complete renovation of my 1920’s Craftsman home in Royal Oak, Michigan, I called Jon Arno at Durst Lumber, who had been instrumental in my renovation process: "OK, Jon, now what do I do?" He gave me a small pile of Aspen and said "make something nice". The table I made got me hooked.
A good challenge.
My friend Andrew Eck at Georgia Artisan Furniture supplied me with a pile of teak pallets, and said, "OK, smart ass, let’s see what you can do with these” :-). My Lake Rabun Adirondack-style chairs came out of his challenge.
Then came color.
Working with local artist Rhonda Miller brought color into my design process. When I’m in need of color inspiration, I often take the color combinations directly from one of her paintings. She is literally a color genius!
Impossible just takes a little longer.

Let's make something.
Most of my classes are small or one on one. We can get into design, tools, techniques, materials, or work towards something you can take home. Some of my students come to me because they want to be able to do things for themselves, they don't wanna wait for someone else to help them.
If you’re local to Macon, leave me a note about what you'd like to learn.

I work primarily on commission, but I also build pieces just to see where my ideas can go. If you' have an idea or are thinking of a concept, talk to me. Maybe we can put something together.
